Retirement pension requirements PDF Print E-mail

Q I wonder if you could give me some basic information regarding retirement pensions in Spain?

A Generally speaking, workers in Spain retire at 65. In order to claim a contributory pension, they must have made at least 15 years of social security contributions during their working life. Of these 15 years, 2 must have been within the 15 years prior to claiming the pension. The amount of pension will depend upon the number of years that he/she has contributed to the social security scheme and his social security base. He/she should receive 100% of his/her social security base with a total contribution period of not less than 35 years. The worker’s final pension is based principally on his payments during the 8-year period prior to his/her retirement.
